Nominated in 2012 to lead the World Bank.
Professor of Professional Practice in International and Public Affairs at Columbia University.
Author of 36 books, most recently “The Economic Development of Latin America since Independence,” with Luis Bértola (2012).

Mr. Werning has been based in the firm’s New York headquarters since 2004. His focus is on both the macroeconomics outlook and market strategy. He is a regular contributor to research publications including World Financial Markets, Global Data Watch, Emerging Markets Top Trades, and Emerging Markets Today.
Managing Director, Sovereigns Group
Mr. Arispe is responsible for analysis and ratings of sovereigns in Latin America and the Caribbean. Prior to joining Fitch in 2007, Arispe was an analyst at American International Group (AIG), where he covered Latin American sovereigns. He also worked in Macroeconomic and Political Risk at Zurich Emerging Market Solutions in Washington, DC. Arispe earned a BA in political science and economics from American University and an MA in international affairs from Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies.

Previously he worked as Mexico City bureau chief from 2009 to 2013, and between 2006 and 2009 he was the executive producer of Bloomberg Television Latin America. Prior to joining Bloomberg, he was editor of The Wall Street Journal Americas in Spanish from 1998 to 2000.
